Jeff Rhys-Jones - Director
Jeff started his career in technology as R&D labs manager for a tier 2 UK computer systems manufacture ’Carrera Technology Ltd.’ After founding the labs department, he set about instilling a ’performance culture’ into the process of developing new product. Over the four years of his leadership in this department, the R&D labs amassed over 100 independant press awards for new product, in well known titles such as PC Magazine, PC Advisor and PC Pro. Jeff is accredited with bringing the first MP3 player to the UK (a prototype MP Man from Saehan) and ’appeared’ with it on BBC Radio 1’s ’Digital Update’ technology segment.
After Carrera, Jeff sent a 6 months sabbatical at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (USA), where he researched emerging web technologies. In addition to this research, Jeff also took and passed Microsoft’s prestigious MCSE exams - in just 6 weeks.
In 1998 Jeff returned to the UK and went back to work in the UK technology sector, this time working in technical PR, writing press releases and assisting companies with product launches and journalist liaison.
1999 saw Jeff team up with extreme development agency Emojo, where he held the post of Technical Director for 7 years. Jeff’s work at Emojo not only involved assisting in product development, but also included the establishing of a hosting data centre, which provided vital revenue for the business - as previously hosting was outsourced. In addition to running the data centre, developing internal IT strategy, and developing new platforms for Emojos Affino CMS system - Jeff was also a successful sales person, and held many of the company’s key accounts, such as the Royal Opera House.
Jeff is someone that does not pay attention to ’assumed limitations’ when brainstorming problems and seeking to find solutions. His ability to approach any problem with truly lateral thinking has enabled him to produce a great suite of products and services for ACC International Ltd.
